Ontario Cup Racing Highlights

Over the weekend several swimmers competed at the Ontario Cup meet held at the U of T pool. This was a long course racing tune up for several Olympic trials hopefuls and a taste of senior swimming for our younger swimmers moving up in the ranks. TSC swimmers were well represented throughout the meet in both senior and youthful ranks.

Top of the podium swims were posted by Tobias Oriwol-200 fr, Warren Barnes-100 and 200 breast, Frank Despond- 400 fr, Zach Summerhayes- 200 IM, Jeremie Holdom- 400 IM, Heather Maitland- 200 and 400 fr and Vanessa Treasure- 200 fly. Other younger swimmers of note were Tyler Tong-McDermott (200 breast), Vanessa Gold (400-800 fr) and Cino Ling (200 back) who all were very close to hitting their Olympic Trials standards. These efforts are especially encouraging being it’s the middle of January and the midst of heavy training portion of the championship run.
